Despite being around for a long time on the
market, classic and volume lashes are two methods of eyelash extensions that
have always remained popular and loved by millions of women until now. When it
comes to these styles, there will be many distinct differences between them.
This article will help you distinguish classic vs volume lashes, thereby being
more confident when advising your clients
What are classic lashes vs volume lashes?
When it comes to Classic lashes, you're
talking about the beauty of naturalness, simplicity, and quite suitable for
most situations. Using a lashing technique called "one-by-one" (1:1
ratio), this style gives lashes a gently curled, long, and medium-thick look.
If your client loves freshness, purity, and tenderness, Classic lashes were
born for them.
In contrast to Classic lashes, Volume lashes
are a different version when most clients choosing this style will love thick,
long, bold, and dramatic eyelashes. They enjoy getting "wow"
expressions from others when they catch their eyes.
Although the looks are quite different, the
eyelash extension process of classic and volume lashes has many similarities.
Step 1: Check and advise clients on the style
of eyelashes, this is definitely the first step for all eyelash extensions
styles. However, for the classic style, the length is usually advised from 8-13
mm and the thickness is from 0.1 - 0.25mm while the volume style uses the
technique of applying many false eyelashes on one real eyelash, the thickness
must be 0.07 mm or less.
Step 2: Clean the eyelid and fix the lower
eyelid. This step mainly helps the natural eyelashes to separate so that when
performing, there will be no missing eyelashes, the base of eyelashes also
doesn't stick together. Both classic and volume lashes require this step.
Step 3: Perform eyelash extensions
- Classic: Usually starting extensions from the inner corner of the eye to the outer one. Accordingly, each false eyelash is glued to each corresponding real eyelash. One thing to note is that the number of false eyelashes is limited to the number of real eyelashes and the length of the eyelashes also depends on the style you choose.
- Volume: This style requires the technician with high lashing skills to be able to smoothly attach many false eyelashes to the real lashes. The parameter 2D, 4D, 6D, 10 D, etc. is the corresponding number of false eyelashes attached to a real eyelash. Currently, there are two ways to do it: the first way is to create a fan of eyelashes directly during the eyelash extension process by attaching each false eyelash to the real one until the required number of eyelashes is reached; the second is to use the pre-made fan according to the appropriate parameters. Both of these ways have the same requirement that the base of eyelashes should be gathered together and the tips of lashes spread evenly. An important note for this style is that the material of false lashes must be extremely light, usually made of mink, silk, or artificial mink.
Step 4: Check the eyelashes after eyelash
extension. You need to make sure that the glue is completely dry, carefully
check the lash base, especially the volume lashes. In this step, the technician
usually removes excess glue, re-fill the missing eyelashes, and cleans the new
lashes set.
Step 5: Use a special tool to brush the
extension part to create curvature, perfecting the shape of the eyelashes as
desired. For volume eyelashes, this step also helps the new lashes set into the
fold, adjusting the spreading direction.
Step 6: Consult and guide clients carefully on
how to take care of new lashes set after eyelash extensions.
Lash maps for classic and volume lashes depend
on the style you choose. Here are some of the styles you will often see:
Doll eyelash extensions: By using eyelashes of
different lengths according to each eye area (the longest lashes is in the
middle part), this lash style will create a wider and opener eyes.
Lashes cat-eye extensions: This style is
created using the longest lashes towards the outer edge of your eyes, thereby
helping the eyes be both charming and mischievous.
For Squirrel style: This lash style is created
by starting with the short lash extensions and gradually using longer ones. The
longest lash extensions are placed underneath the arch of the client’s
eyebrows, and then gradually get shorter extensions again towards the outer
corner of the eye...
For dramatic mega volume look: This lash style
is quite dreamy, fanciful, and over-the-top. However, it is ideal for young
women who love a dramatic look. This style is a combination of the highest
thickness, curls, and lengths depending on the client’s preference.
In addition, there will be other lash maps
depending on the styles of eyelash extension that the clients want to aim for.
There will also be some notes for clients who
want to wear classic vs volume lashes:
As shared above, classic lashes are a natural
and gentle eyelash extension style, so it is easy to apply on different eye
shapes such as monoids, drooping eyelids, sparse eyelashes, etc. Especially, if
the customer has big and round eyes with sparse eyelashes, advise them to
choose this style because it will overcome as many defects as possible. In
addition, if your clients are just starting to beautify with eyelash
extensions, classic extensions are the best choice, it's will not make a big change
on their eyes, so they can feel more comfortable and confident.
For volume lashes, the health of your lashes
is very important. Therefore, you should not perform this style for clients
whose eyelashes are sparse, fragile or easily allergic to polyester. Besides,
for clients with small eyes, single eyelids are also the ones you need to
consider carefully if you want to perform this style.
